Summer Lakeshore Link 2022

     

Hello Scouts, Scouters, & Scouting Families!

Welcome to September and all things fall....recruitment, football, popcorn, camp-o-rees and so much more!  I love this time of year, the temperature cools off but Scouting heats up. In this edition of the Lakeshore Link you will read about Scouting topics that include: the popcorn sale, Fall Recruitment, our Fish-o-ree, Cub Scout Free Fishing Day, Council activities, and more. 

     

  
Fall recruitment, let's grow the Scouting movement!
Goals, Stretch Goals, and Incentives Oh, My!

Each unit has been assigned a base & stretch goal for recruitment and the council has come up with a great incentive for those who reach those goals.
  • Units will receive 1 Free Registration to Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO), or Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) for achieving their assigned New Youth Base Fall Recruitment Goal by October 31, 2022. 
  • Each unit will receive a Second Free Registration to Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation (BALOO), or Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) for achieving their assigned New Youth Stretch Fall Recruitment Goal by October 31, 2022.

     

The Fall Popcorn Sale is underway, and things are looking good! More popcorn has been ordered this year for Show & Sell than last year!  Patti our District Popcorn Kernel is super excited and happy to help any unit grow their sale or help with ordering. Looking for help or ideas on how to grow your sale, send Patti an email at patricia.finlan@yahoo.com.

LAKESHORE DISTRICT ACTIVITIES
 

 

Lakeshore District Fish-O-Ree

This weekend-long camping event will offer Scouts BSA members a choice between Fishing & Fly-Fishing merit badges. Venture and Sea Scouts are also encouraged to attend. Beyond earning a merit badge and meeting other Scouts from around the area, participants will have the opportunity to catch, clean, and cook a fish. Local fishing experts will be on hand to instruct and educate Scouts and a local chef will demo simple, but tasty fish recipes for Scouts and leaders. Don't let your troop miss out on this awesome weekend!  Fish-O-Ree location is Plymouth Springs Trout Farm, W6623 County Rd Z, Plymouth, WI.

Cub Scout Free Fishing Day

All Cub Scouts & families looking to join Cub Scouts are invited to Plymouth Spring Trout Farm for our free fishing event. This event is free to catch but if you want to bring your catch home with you then there is a charge.


Cub Scout Handbook & Pinewood Derby Kit Give Away for New Cub Scouts

  


  


Lakeshore District is hosting a Corporate Pinewood Derby as a local fundraiser for Scouting.
 

Join us for our 2nd Annual Corporate Pinewood Derby supporting Scouts here in the Lakeshore District (Sheboygan, Manitowoc, & Calumet Counties).


Cub Scouts have taught us how to run an amazing Pinewood Derby and with    3 Sheeps Brewery as our venue this adults only Pinewood Derby is sure to be a good time for a great cause.

Event Highlights:

  • Day of Rental Cars, incase you want to join the fun day of
  • Silent Auction
  • Complimentary snacks & refreshments
  • Trophy & Bragging Rights!

Lakeshore District will host a Pinewood Derby Build/Workshop.  All Cub Scouts and an adult partner are invited to bring your pinewood kit & build your car. We will have templates, tools, & a track to test your car on...the only things we won't have are paint and weights.


NOTE: There will be no Roundtable this month due to recruitment. Roundtable will be back in October will a full agenda, & lots of resources. All volunteers and parents are encouraged to attend District Roundtable meetings the 2nd Thursday of the month unless otherwise noted.

September 9-11, 2022 at Camp Rokilio

From the spark that started the Mom and Son program over 30 years ago, to the move including our newest members in 2018 morphing into the Mom and Scout program, we are pleased to announce Bay-Lakes Council's next step to bring this program to all the families we serve.


Let's introduce Scout FIRE! This is your family’s opportunity to spend the weekend together, tent camping, at the beautiful Camp Rokilio. Whether it is Mom, Dad, Grandma, Grandpa, Aunt, Uncle, guardian or other trusted adult, this weekend will introduce Scouting to a family member that may not normally get out to camp.

BALOO: Basic Adult Leader Outdoor Orientation is required for at least ONE leader or parent in a Pack who attends any overnight programming including: Webelos campouts, family camps, museum overnighters, EAA sleepovers, Zoo campouts, etc. Cost is $55.
